Kai from Mortal Kombat in the GA-HQ Video Game Character DB
Kai debuted in Mortal Kombat 4 (1996) as one of the new protagonists of the series, he was introduced as a former White Lotus Society member and friend of Liu Kang. There were plans to bring him back in Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance already but these were cancelled during the development of the game. Instead he returned like all previously playable Mortal Kombat characters in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon (2006) with a big visual redesign and a couple new special moves. There were plans to have Kai in the story mode of Mortal Kombat X (2015) but he got replaced by Bo’Rai Cho. His weapon changes from the Ghurka Knife to Raiden’s Staff after players beat Mortal Kombat 4 with him and saved the progress. |
