Thor from Marvel in Video Games

Thor is a Marvel Comics character and a popular part of the Avengers. He was first appearing in the comic Journey into Mystery #83 (August 1962) but is actually one of the last old Marvel Heroes that became playable in video games. His debut was in the widely unknown and still arcade exclusive fighting game Avengers in Galactic Storm where he is an assist character back in 1995. It took 11 more years until Thor became a fully playable character in Activisions Marvel: Ultimate Alliance in 2006. Fans created a playable Thor for the Mugen fighting game engine before Capcom and Marvel finally added him as a playable character in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (2011). Today, Thor is a lot more popular thanks to the Marvel Movies and a playable character in many Marvel based games including the LEGO ones and a ton of mobile games. |
