#170 Chinchou used Illuminate and Electro Ball in the Game-Art-HQ Pokemon Gen II Tribute!
Chinchou’s Illuminate ability by cubehero
Cubehero from Germany is a Game-Art-HQ contributor since almost 3 years now but submitted mostly fighting game related video game fan art including this Dizzy from Guilty Gear art that won our July 2016 Art Challenge. That he would join our Pokémon Generation I tribute with Weedle was a total surprise! He joined our Pokemon II Tribute with the three illustrations of Chinchou, Politoed and Togepi.
He drew over hundred video game fan arts here!
Illuminate
“Raises the likelihood of meeting wild Pokémon.”
Illuminate is an ability introduced in Generation III which increases the wild Pokemon encounter rate by 100%. Every Pokemon that possesses this ability can learn Flash.
In the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games, Pokemon with the Illuminate ability would blink and then summon an ally on the floor nearby.
Chinchou us the only Pokemon that is using the Illuminate in our Pokemon Art Collaboration so far!
Chinchou used Electro Ball by HerbivoreRoss
Ross Jones previously known as the TheExileKing is one of the many artists that participated for the first time in a Game-Art-HQ Collaboration Project when he heard about our Pokemon Tribute back in summer 2016.
I liked his style to draw them with traditional tools like Pencils and the sketchy look makes his three takes on Golbat, Parasect and Koffing quite unique among the 300 illustrations in our first part of the big Pokemon Tribute we have ongoing here. He continued his excellent work with Jumpluff, Chinchou and Spinarak in 2017!

Electro Ball
“The user hurls an electric orb at the target. The faster the user is than the target, the greater the damage.”
An Electric-type move with a base power depending on the user’s speed, Electro Ball can be very deadly to slower Pokemon due to its 100% accuracy.
Despite the intense power that Electro Ball can emit, Pokemon with the Bulletproof ability cannot be affected by this move.
Electro Ball was introduced in Generation V which explains that only Chinchou and Elekid are using this move in our project yet!
“It discharges positive and negative electricity from its antenna tips to shock its foes.”
Chinchou is a dual-type Water-Electric Pokemon which is a very unique type as water Pokemon are weak against electricity. It is an aquatic Pokemon that usually stays close to the seabed and uses flashing lights to communicate with other Chinchou.
The antennae are used to gather electricity and the sensation sometimes causes Chinchou to tingle. It tends to stun its prey with electricity before attacking it.
Chinchou played a very big role in an episode of the Pokemon anime where a character by the name of Dayton owned one called Bright that led the annual Blue Lagoon Chinchou Parade. Bright became dehydrated from leading the parade and Ash used his Totodile’s Water Gun attack to re-hydrate it. Chinchou have been shown to walk on land only in the anime as they can only be caught in water and do not have a footprint in the games.
