#229 Houndoom used Dark Pulse and Overheat in the Game-Art-HQ Pokemon Gen II Tribute!
Houndoom used Dark Pulse by Lilith-the-5th
Houndoom is my favourite pokemon since when I was 12- with his elements of Dark and Fire being my favourites, and his desing reminiscing a hellhound or a dobermann dog- and he used to be my one and only choice to beat the whole League.
I chose Dark Pulse because it’s effect is powerful and intense- a perfect accompaniment to his fiery moves and personality.
Laura Galli from Italy is an active part of Game-Art-HQ since around three years and participated in art collaborations like the Playstation’s 20th Anniversary and our Final Fantasy IX Collaboration with OverClockedRemix that combined Music with visual Art. She claimed Ninetales and Cloyster in 2016 and took the scary Houndoom in 2017.
I recommend to visit her whole gallery here!
Dark Pulse
“The user releases a horrible aura imbued with dark thoughts. This may also make the target flinch”
The Dark Pulse is a strong Dark-Type attack that was introduced in the Generation IV Pokemon games. It has a 20% chance to causing its opponents to Flinch and its Power Rating of 80 can be increased to 120 if the Pokemon uses the Mega Launcher ability as well.
Right now, at least three of the Gen I & II Pokemon in our art collaboration learned this move already!
Houndoom used Overheat by TheWarriorArtist
The Pencil Wielding Warrior from the USA is one of the artists that joined Game-Art-HQ in summer 2016 to participate in our first Pokemon tribute. He did Dewgong and Staryu and eventually Spearow which was one of the last available Pokemon. In 2017 he returned for our Generation II Project and took Murkrow and Houndoom.
He draws a lot Pokemon related art which you can see in his gallery there and I am pretty sure we will see more from him next year!
Overheat
The user attacks the target at full power. The attack’s recoil harshly reduces the user’s Sp. Atk stat
With a Power Stat of 130, Overheat is one of the most powerful Fire-type moves in the Pokemon history so far and it does not end with its raw Power since Overheat is also causing a decrease of the special attack stat of the opponent.
Overheat was introduced in Gen III but Houndoom from Gen II. used it as the first Pokemon in our big Tribute!
#229 Houndoom
“In a Houndoom pack, the one with its horns raked sharply towards the back serves a leadership role. These Pokémon choose their leader by fighting amongst themselves”
Houndoom is a dual-type Dark/Fire Pokemon that evolves from Houndour starting at level 24. It is similar in appearance to Houndour and is likely to also be based off a Hellhound, or Cerberus and the closest dog breed in appearance looking like a Dobermann.
Its name is a mix of ‘hound’ and ‘doom’, further strengthening the thought that it is based off a Hellhound. With the introduction of mega Pokemon, Houndoom was given a mega form and can evolve into Mega Houndoom when holding a Houndoomite.
In the Pokemon anime, a trainer called Harrison used a Houndoom in the Silver conference which helped to recover the Flame of Ho-oh and beat Ash’s Snorlax in a battle.
