#313 Volbeat used Tail Glow and Flash in our Pokemon Generation III Art Tribute
Volbeat using Tail Glow by mi-spark
The sparkly Mimi is a student from the USA that joined GA-HQ and our Pokemon Generation Tributes in 2018 and was actually one of the first “new” artists on board. Her Marshtomp was done on the 16th January already, just two weeks after we announced the big project. Her Volbeat followed in August. May more follow in our future art collborations 🙂
Check out her sparkly gallery here please!
Tail Glow
“The user stares at flashing lights to focus its mind, drastically raising its Sp. Atk stat.”
Tail Glow is a Bug-type move that was first introduced in Generation III that is non-damaging and considered to be very beautiful when used in Pokemon contests. This move can only be learnt naturally and cannot be taught to Pokemon using a TM, HM or by a Move Tutor.
It was originally the signature move of Volbeat and can only be learned by two other Pokemon: Manaphy and Xurkitree.
Volbeat using Flash by KelpGull
KelpGull aka Erica joined us in 2016 with one of the submissions for our Legend of Zelda art collaboration.
She participated in projects by other video game communities before and became a very active part of Game-Art-HQ when we introduced our first Pokemon Tribute.
Ivysaur, Zubat, Omastar and Gloom were her four contributions in 2016, in 2017 she continued with the trio of Sneasel, Piloswine and Smeargle!
When we started our Generation III Project, Erica was the first who claimed Cacnea, followed by Grovyle, Volbeat, Sealeo and finally Aggron
I recommend to visit her full gallery which is just filled with goodness from video games and more!
Flash
“The user flashes a bright light that cuts the target’s accuracy. It can also be used to illuminate dark caves.”
Flash is a Generation I Bug-Normal type move that up until the latest generation could also be used outside of battles to illuminate caves. The accuracy of Flash is 100%.
If used in a contest, Flash would be considered to be a beautiful move by the judges. Flash is the first move Volbeat can learn and a newly hatched Volbeat will most likely know Flash.
#313 Volbeat
“It emits light from its tail to communicate. It loves the sweet aroma given off by Illumise.”
Volbeat is a pure Bug-type Pokémon and is the counterpart of Illumise. It is a firefly Pokemon as can be seen from the light on its rear end and can produce eggs that contain both Volbeat and Illumise if bred with a Ditto. Volbeat is 100% male while Illumise is 100% female.
Both Volbeat and Illumise are in the Bug egg group but are also in the Human-like egg group and currently they are the only two Pokemon that share these two egg groups. It’s name is a combination of volt and beetle or beat.
Volbeat first appeared in the anime in the Camp Pikachu short in which he was the camp counselor for the Pokemon that Pikachu stumbled across. Volbeat’s former signature moves were Tail Glow and Signal Beam.
