Castlevania: Lament of Innocence is the first of two 3D Castlevania games released for the Playstation 2, and is often considered as the best 3D Castlevania sticking to the classic Castlevania formula of combining a story with the dark mood of the castle and exploring its many many locations. While later games like Lords of Shadow are great in their own way, a lot older fans disliked that it was very linear compared with the big labyrinth like locations in the other games. In this artwork by Aarogoth from the USA who draw this for our tribute we see the main protagonist Leon Belmont and Sara Trantoul who was his betrothed ..she got kidnapped and short before turned into a vampire though. Before she was a vampire completely she formed a bond of her soul and blood with Leon. Her soul was fused into Leon’s Whip and formed the mighty Vampire Killer whip used by the Belmonts for Ages as their main weapon against Dracula and his hordes. In the background you can also see Death, the final boss of Castlevania: Lament of Innocence. – Aaragoth wrote the following to describe his entry: “Lament of Innocence happens to be my personal favorite mainly due to its emphasis on a story but the gameplay was great too (LoS for similar reasons). I may have given Death too much credit, being only a mere lacky… but then again, this was the only time in the series that he was the final boss. He just worked out better for the composition.” |
