About our illustration of TMNT: The Hyperstone Heist and the artist behind it
By Joel Sousa:
My totally radical and bodacious entry for the Game Art HQ Beat’em Up Tribute featuring the Heroes in a half shell!!
Shredder shrinks the Manhattan Island with the power of the Hyperstone.Luckily April O’Neil is broadcasting the occurrence on Channel 6 and guess who usually watch that? You’re right it’s the green team machine and with lots of Pizza Power they’re going to defeat the Foot once more!
Back in the day Iwould play this non stop…Heck!, I still do!
An hardcore ninja Turtles fan as myself never let pass a chance to bring the “sneakers”(foot reference) down. Even knowing that Hyperstone heist is somewhat a clone of the Turtles in Time, only having a Mega Drive as a kid , this version was a must and it still has enough to be a great game despite it’s shortcomings when compared with the Snes/arcade versions.
With amazing levels and charismatic bosses like Rocksteady, Krang and the Shredder!, I chose Leather Head. The first boss from the sewers to engage combat with the most used characters in my house. I would always pick Raphael because is my favourite and everybody else seem to prefer Michelangelo (I guess they like to party hard)! Sometimes , someone would select Leonardo but never Donnie. Even after I said that He probably is the one with the best weapon because of the long range and such. Anyway I love all the four brothers so I would play with all of them when alone. ^_^
I got to finish this by saying that this piece is probably my best depiction of the Turtles, and I say this with shame. Having so much love for this franchise I never seemed to be able to do them any justice when drawing them. That’s why I took a long time doing this rendition with all my heart.
So I hope that you all enjoy it and…
COWABUNGA DUDES!!!
