Completely drawn images and cosplay photos are mostly in the spotlight here, but we try to cover as many different forms of art related to video games as possible here on GA-HQ. Like the most of us gamers, you probably came in touch with one or more of the many fighting games like Street Fighter, Tekken, Mortal Kombat etc.

In the 2D fighting games, the characters are mostly based on the so called sprites. These are -very- basically flat images which can form a completely animated character or stage element as example if many of these sprites are connected to each other to form a animation. There are fighting game characters which have over thousand different sprites even.

FeLoLop used a screenshot here, outlined and filled the inside and then added the details.

Making such sprites, or editing them from existing ones was a big part for artists working on fighting games in the past, today this technique is more and more replaced with 3D models but there are still a lot gamers and fans out there who are using the sprite technique for own games, engines like M.U.G.E.N or just to create a different form of art and often to create 2D versions of characters only seen in 3D versions in the games like Tekken and the newer Street Fighter’s.

FeLoLlop from Spain is one of these artists who are creating a lot excellent sprite art including almost the complete Street Fighter cast, there are a lot of his works featured here now, but there is even more to see on his deviantART gallery, i totally recommend to visit it!
