Mortal Kombat Art Tribute: Scorpion from Mortal Kombat

Scorpion is without a doubt the most popular Mortal Kombat character for many years now. His “Get Over Here” Spear Throw attack, the “Toasty” fatality, and a good part of his role in the first Mortal Kombat movie made him more known than Liu Kang, Sonya Blade, or Raiden together, he is only rivaled by Sub Zero and maybe Mileena today. But back in 1992 when the first Mortal Kombat was released he was just one of seven playable characters and not even a protagonist.
His story was that he was murdered by Lin Kuei members and most likely Sub-Zero and somehow he can return to revenge for his death but back in MK1 there was no Quan Chi and no hints that his whole clan including his family was murdered as well. The really cool story which made him more interesting started in Mortal Kombat 2.
Scorpion in his classic Mortal Kombat I design was drawn for our first round of the Mortal Kombat fan art tribute back in October 2011 by Ryem Salim from the UK |
