Mortal Kombat Art Tribute: Johnny Cage from Mortal Kombat II
Shadow Kick! |
It’s Bathing Time! |
Johnny Cage, the famous martial arts movies actor follows the Shaolin Monk Liu Kang into Outworld to fight for Earthrealm, and..more important for him his own popularity. Daniel Pesina played Johnny Cage, the actor who was strongly based on the real-life superstar Jean Claude Van Damme at the time but went through many design changes in the later game to make him a quite unique own character who had almost nothing in common anymore with Van Damme. In Mortal Kombat II he had a great arsenal of special moves including his famous “Nut Breaker” and the Shadow Kick drawn here by Joel Sousa from Portugal, he participated also with a Sonya Blade from MK vs. DC submission! The background stage in this illustration of Johnny is the Living Forest. This submission for our Mortal Kombat Art Tribute was one of the first ones back in summer 2012 after the second round of the project was announced with the crazy seeming target to get more than 300 different fighting game character designs drawn for it. Kudos to Joel!
Johnny Cage had the probably funniest ending of all the characters from MK2. |
