While Raiden was introduced as a cynic Thunder God who seeks competition with other Gods which leads even to the destruction of the Earthrealm, his role was changed in Mortal Kombat 2. Not only is he warning the remaining Earthrealm Warriors he also joins the Tournament set up by Shao Kahn in the Outworld and would close the dimensional gates between the two realms. Good that this never happened, otherwise a lot of the later Mortal Kombat games would have been very different. ~ Raiden returned with all his specials from the first MK but got a visual redesign with more details and also new moves as well. He also got one of the funniest MK-Gibberish Lines ever for his “Torpedo” Special Moves.
