Mortal Kombat Art Tribute: Kintaro from Mortal Kombat II
|
Kintaro based on his look from Mortal Kombat 2 was drawn by Robert Ripley from Germany. It was submitted in December 2012, the background is the Kuatan Temple from MK Deadly Alliance. |
Kintaro is the sub-boss in Mortal Kombat 2 and replaced Goro who was defeated in the first Mortal Kombat. The player fights him in Shao Kahn’s Arena and damn..what a strong boss he was and is. Not only is he able to grab you while you attack him, he can also shoot three very strong fireballs in a row, has the teleport stomp like Goro and is also so strong that he can defeat you with just a handful attacks. Kintaro is described as a bodyguard of Shao Kahn and is a Shokan just like Goro, but while Goro was descried has a “Half Human, Half Dragon”, Kintaro is more based on a Tiger and has many feline features. Originally he was designed to be a playable character with two arms and a “human tiger warrior” look as you can see in the concept art below Kintaro was made a playable and quite overpowered character in Mortal Kombat Trilogy and returned a decade later in Mortal Kombat Armageddon as a playable and now more balanced character as well.
