After finally (so they thought) defeating Shao Kahn during the events of Mortal Kombat 3,the Thundergod Raiden returned to Earthrealm just to be confronted with another threat for the Realm as well as himself and even the Elder Gods when Shinnok and Quan Chi started a war against the Elder Gods and the realms of Earthrealm and Edenia. Raiden is one of the last protectors of Earth and leads the forces of good against the fallen Elder God and his sorcerer. ~ Raiden returns with his trademark moves, the Teleport, his Torpedo which has a different command now and his Lightning Bolt Projectile, instead of the staff seen in the Mortal Kombat 4 intro, he uses a War Hammer in battle. ~ In his ending in Mortal Kombat 4, Raiden is invited to become an Elder God which he accepts and choses Fujin as the new protector of Earthrealm.
