Mortal Kombat Art Tribute: Kung Lao from Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance
Kung Lao returns and looks younger than in MK3 and Mortal Kombat 4 Gold, got a very different visual design and has only half of his old special moves, good that they changed him again in later games, in MKDA he was quite a disappointment. ~ Kung Lao was the first to find the body of his friend and fellow Shaolin monk Liu Kang. He later discovered that it was in fact Shang Tsung who had dealt the fatal blow. Enraged, Kung Lao abandoned his Shaolin beliefs and vowed revenge against the sorcerer. He knew that his fighting skill would not be sufficient to best Shang Tsung. He would need training from the same Outworld master who had taught Liu Kang the one special attack he needed to win the Mortal Kombat tournament so many years ago. ~ On the positive side, team Midway Games Chicago gave him very fitting fighting styles with the Mantis and Shaolin Fist moves, personally I think the Bo Staff used by Raiden in MKDA-MKA would have been more fitting to him than the Broadsword. As mentioned, Kung Lao lost some of his trademark moves, including the Teleport and his Whirlwind attacks. He can’t throw his hat in different directions anymore as well. New is a whirlwind kick which was not used in MK9 thankfully. ~ Kung Lao in his Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance design was drawn by UltimateSushiLord |
