Beowolf Cadmus from Final Fantasy Tactics

Beowulf Cadmus is an optional protagonist from Final Fantasy Tactics and was by far the biggest surprise in our first round of the Final Fantasy: Those Who Fight Further Art Tribute.

Seriously, no Cloud, No Tidus..No Tifa, but friggin’ Beowulf Cadmus gets chosen by our community? 🙂

Like wrestling fans would chant: YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!

Why did you choose Beowulf Cadmus?
I chose randomly 🙂

What do you like about him and about FF Tactics?
He is a character that appears already in the middle of the plot to make the story more dynamic.

As for FFT, I think it’s a game that everyone should play. showed an innovative gameplay to the epoch that was released.

What tools did you use for the artwork?
The draft is done traditionally. I scan and make the whole process of digital painting in Photoshop CS 6.

CrimsonWalker is a professional American artist with a main focus of working with traditional art tools. Beowulf Cadmus is his first submission to a GA-HQ Project.

Why did you choose Beowulf Cadmus?

To be honest, I chose Beowulf because Beatrix was taken lol.

What do you like about him and about FF Tactics?

I can’t say that I like him or don’t because I know so very little about him. Most people who aren’t hardcore FFT fans had no idea who he was actually. FF Tactics is to date one of my all time fave games. The best tactical game I’ve played hands down. I love the in depth story, the setting & soundtrack. It truly is a masterpiece.

What tools did you use for the artwork?

I used PS CS4 for the image.

Please describe your take on him

As I mentioned above very few people know anything about him, so you can imagine finding any reference for him was damn near impossible. I ended up watching a few vids of gameplay with him to get a better idea of how he looks.

I noticed while watching the gameplay that he wasn’t too over the top & seemed a bit more reserved than anything else. He had a solid goal and was serious about it. I kept to that attitude & worked the image to resemble how I thought he would look in a still shot.

Is there something else you want to tell the visitors of the Final Fantasy Art Tribute on Game Art HQ?

Game Art HQ has been fantastic since they started out and this tribute is something that brings into remembrance the once great dynasty that is square and FF. The characters featured touch each of the games that paved the way for RPGs.

Why did you choose Beowulf Cadmus?

Because Final Fantasy Tactics is one of my favorite FF games, and Beowulf was the only character on the list from that game

What do you like about him and about FF Tactics?

I Love how teamwork is so important in the game. even if you are a really high lvl, if you don’t use your tactics wisely, you will die. Since Beowulf comes in later in the story, most games would just have him as a random side character.

How can you care about a character you haven’t spent much time with? But instead, Beowulf has his own story that make you care.

What tools did you use for the artwork?

I used pencil and paper for the sketch, Painter12 for the lines and color, and I did retouches in G.I.M.P.

Please describe your take on him
I always think of the Character from the novel of Beowulf. I love literature, so when I hear that name, I automatically think of Anglo-Saxon culture :/
