Mario also called Super Mario is probably the most popular plumber ever, and also the most known Video Game Character of all time! He made his debut in 1981 already as the protagonist of the arcade game Donkey Kong where he had to climb ladders, jump over obstacles, and had to rescue the damsel Pauline. Back in the days, he was just called Jumpman, and Pauline was known as Lady btw. He returned to Super Mario Bros. in 1985 one of the first platformers and most complex games for that time. Mario had again to rescue a girl, this time Princess Peach and fight against the evil Bowser. Today in 2014, Mario appeared in over 50 games including crossovers like Super Smash Bros and many spinoff series like Mario RPG / Paper Mario, the Mario Kart Series, Mario Sports Games, and many many more. Here We Go! Btw the only instances where Mario was a plumber in the live-action movie and the American cartoon. The word “plumber” does not appear in any game, neither in-game nor even in the manuals. They basically went “Oh, he’s wearing overalls, he’s probably a plumber” when they made the adaptations |
