Donkey Kong was once the main antagonist in the classic Donkey Kong game by Nintendo for the Arcades and later the NES, but his role changed completely and since 1994 and Donkey Kong Country by Rare he is known as one of the big Nintendo protagonists.

Beside the Donkey Kong Country games he also god the Donkey Konga rhythm series, is a playable character in all Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. games and also playable in the Mario vs. Donkey Kong games.

The latest Donkey Kong game is currently Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze ( February 2014)
