1998 was basically the peak for the Sony Playstation and also the Nintendo 64 and both consoles saw not only many new games but also an unusual big amount of games which would be so successful that they still are among the most sold games and game series now. Resident Evil 2 was released in January and its characters like Leon S. Kennedy, Claire Redfield and Ada Wong still appear in new games. Spyro the Dragon got his first game, now in 2013 and 2014 he is still relevant thanks to the Skylanders games. Guilty Gear was first released on the Playstation and characters like Sol Badguy and Ky Kiske were among the more popular fighting game characters of the last decade. In winter 2014 the latest GG got released on the Playstation 3 and 4. Metal Gear Solid meant the big return of the Metal gear games from the eighties, characters like Solid Snake and Revolver Ocelot are among the most popular ones still in 2014. SoulCalibur started to rock the arcades with new guys like Astaroth, Killik and the sexy Ivy Valentine.
