Video Game Characters first seen in the Year 1997 featured on Game-Art-HQ
1997 – The Nintendo 64 got the first wave of games after its launch line up and the Sony Playstation was dominating the console market at the time with the Sega Saturn getting less and less support. Some of the most important games for the Playstation Brand in general were released in 1997, like Final Fantasy VII with its still popular game characters Cloud Strife, Aerith and Tifa and of course Sephiroth. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is still considered to be one of the best parts of the series and Alucard, the main protagonist of the game just returned for a DLC in Lords of Shadows 2. 1997 was also the birth of characters like Parappa, and Abe from Abe’s Oddysee on the platform. Also: MegaMan Legends. The Arcade Game Lineup shrinked a bit in 1997 already but still saw a ton of big releases including Tekken 3 and new characters like Jin Kazama and Eddy Gordo there. Street Fighter III was finally released after tons of SFII updates and introduced an almost completely new cast including guys like Alex and Dudley. Mortal Kombat continued with MK4 and new characters like Quan Chi who are still known and part of the series today. The Nintendo 64 got mainly sequels to 16 bit series but also new developments like Turok. The list below is growing every week, and will hopefully give you an overview about the game character creations from 1997! |
