Back in 1994, the Sega Saturn was released as the successor for the aged Mega Drive /Genesis and impressed many gamers with its ports of the 3d arcade games Daytona USA and new games like Panzer Dragoon. The machine was not able to really compete with the Sony Playstation and later the Nintendo 64 though and while it was able to get better looking 2D games including many superb ports of 2D Fighting Games like Darkstalkers its 3D components were significantly weaker than those of the Playstation. Fun and almost forgotten fact..the still super popular Lara Croft was first seen on the Sega Saturn, around 2 weeks earlier than on the Playstation and the PC. |
