The Nintendo Wii was launched in 2006 and had a surprising intuitive new form of a controller on board with the Wii Remote Controller. The console is one of the most successful ones to date with over 100 million sold units worldwide. There were relative few completely new games and game character though and many of the Wii games were Gamecube and Playstation 2 ports or re-releases. Among the completely new games were No More Heroes, Red Steel and Muramasa: The Demon Blade, The Legend of Zelda series got their basically first game (story wise) with LoZ Skyward Sword.
