Johnny Cage from Mortal Kombat in the GA-HQ Video Game Character DB
Johnny Cage is a character from the Mortal Kombat fighting game series created by Midway Games Chicago in 1992. He debuted as part of the first game already and returned in most sequels while he even died between the events of Mortal Kombat 2 and 3. Johnny Cage is an American actor known for his martial arts movies, in the games, he comes over as a playboy sometimes as an arrogant Hollywood Star but also as a legitimate martial art expert who wants to prove he is more than just a show. He has some of the funniest moves like his “Nut-Cracker” where he punches his opponent in the groin while doing a spagat, seems he was always inspired by real-life martial art actors like Jean Claude van Damme which goes back to the development time of the first Mortal Kombat game. In Mortal Kombat 9 he did not only get a visual redesign but also a relatively big role in the story mode with him being one of the survivors of Shao Kahn’s Invasion. In Mortal Kombat 9 his daughter Cassie Cage is a playable character, he and his former wife Sonya Blade were some of the last MKX characters confirmed to be playable as well. In Mortal Kombat XI (2019) he is again one of the main protagonists but has a smaller role. His mysterious strong power he used to defeat Shinnok however was still not explained. Fun Fact: Johnny Cage got James Bond look-alike alternate costumes in MK4 and MKDA. |
