Earthquake from Samurai Shodown in the GA-HQ Video Game Character DB
Earthquake is a character from the Samurai Shodown (Samurai Spirits in Japan) fighting games by SNK. He debuted in the first game back in 1993 and returned in around half of the sequels as well as in the crossover game SNK vs. Capcom SVC Chaos (2003). He finally made it to one of the 3D Samurai Shodown games in Samurai Shodown (2019). He is from Texas (USA) and trained under the same master as another American character of the series, Galford. In the games he fights mainly for gold and rewards and respects nobody beside himself and his minions. His fighting style is basically based on his big size as well as Ninjutsu attacks a fun combination which makes him a difficult but very funny to play character. He can breath fire, teleport himself above his opponent and can..fart. |

Earthquake from Samurai Shodown drawn for the Game-Art-HQ Video Game Character Database
Samurai Shodown was once called a fighting game that has even more varied character designs than Street Fighter, back in 1993, and when I see how different characters like Tam Tam, Charlotte and Earthquake are from each other, I can’t disagree and think that SNK delivered a true masterpiece of a fighting game series over the years that overthrowned the majority of its competitiors when it comes to character and gameplay designs.
Earthquake was a standout character for me from the start. Not only did he have a pretty cool hard rock musical theme like only Galford, the other American character in the first Samurai Shodown..he also was one of the first big fighting game characters that had some unusual fast moves. If we are seeing a new Samurai Shodown game..he should really return.

Panagiotis “Weaselpal” Vlamis participated in a good couple of our art collaborations already but that he claimed a pretty unknown character like Earthquake for our Character DB here was a big surprise. His gallery on dA is full of great artworks, often in the comic-style but you can also find paintings there among other stuff. Absolutely worth to check out!
