Street Fighter Alpha Overview and Game-Art
Street Fighter Alpha, known in Japan as Street Fighter Zero was released in June 1995 for the Arcades and later ported to the Sony Playstation and Sega Saturn consoles. It was the first completely new Street Fighter game by Capcom after the handful different Street Fighter II games and combined Street Fighter I (Adon, Birdie, Ken, Ryu,Sagat) SFII (Akuma, Chun Li, M.Bison) and Final Fight (Guy, Sodom) characters with a few new ones (Charlie, Dan, Rose). SFA was developed CP System II and introduced completely new graphics with bigger sprites and more impressive special moves than before. New was also the chain-combo system, the alpha counter move and that the characters had multiple super moves instead of only one. Last but not least, the characters also got the taunt moves for the first time, a feature which became standard in Street Fighter games till today. Street Fighter Alpha got two sequels which continued the story and added many new characters
