Updates on Game-Art-HQ of the last week: Heya and welcome to the Weeks Review on GA-HQ! A ton of game characters got updates for their galleries in the form of fan art in the last week and around 15 more galleries were made for characters like Claptrap, Anakaris from Darkstalkers, the Moogles from Final Fantasy or Sheik from the Legend of Zelda. Btw..damn sad to find out that there are basically no official illustrations of Sheik from Smash Bros. Melee and Brawl in large pixel sizes available. Speaking about LOZ, you know that Link’s Blacklist IV is ongoing and will be published here on the 30th June. Around 15 of the submissions have their articles online already and at least 20 more are joining them in the next weeks. We got some truly amazing submissions even for minor enemies from the Zelda games this time. The King of Fighters, Tekken and Playstation 20th Anniversary Art Tributes got quite a lot new great submissions in the last week as well and I believe some of them will make many of us gamers cry tears of nostalgia. This week I present you a pretty unusual mix of fan art with one of the biggest surprises for myself through that Battletoads & Double Dragon Tribute there! Have fun viewing these great artworks and check out the galleries of the artists as well, they are all damn worth a visit! |
Battletoads & Double Dragon! This was a quite weird crossover between the two beat’em ups in around 1993 and was not sooo great but still pretty fun. Around two weeks ago, this fan art tribute by David De Léon Luis from Spain was submitted to our dA group and I was like “What The Hell” since it is super unusual to see illustrations like that for such an old game. A true Blast From the Past Game Art which revives this small piece of gaming history 🙂 Thanks a lot for creating this @ David!
@everyone else, take a good look at his gallery on dA..he has some amazing other game related art there as well!

Morrigan Aensland from the Darkstalkers and Marvel vs. Capcom games is probably one of the most drawn game characters by fans in general and I really try to get mostly the other not so often drawn characters a bit spotlight here but honestly …it is damn difficult to ignore such a beautiful illustration like the Morrigan one which was drawn by Tyler “ArtofTy” James and submitted to GAHQ on dA around 2 weeks ago. There are a ton of Morrigan Aensland illustrations out there but this one stood out of the many of the last weeks and months. I totally recommend to see it in full-size for all the beautiful..and sexy details the artist added to this composition. Also, like myself Tyler hopes that Darkstalkers 4 might be a thing sooner or later and well, have a look at his own description for his piece: “One of my favorite fighting games growing up was Darkstalkers. It’s been a life long goal to paint some fan art for it and finally I got around to it! I’m dreaming of Darkstalkers 4 like so many other fans. Hopefully we will see it soon!”
Can only add 2-Words: PLEASE CAPCOM! |
Seems the “Next-Gen” only Assassin’s Creed character will be revealed at the E3 in Los Angeles in around 2 weeks while the PS3 and XB360 gamers get more Edward Kenway in a half-year with another AC game for the older platforms playing with the pirate theme. Honestly..I am total fine with that and wait with a PS4 purchase till next year when really a lot new games are available for it anyway. Edward is one of the favourite game characters by Jodie Muir from the UK who is not only an excellent artist but also a long time Game-Art-HQ Contributor and drew some amazing illustrations for our art collaborations in the last years. This is her latest take on him which she called “The Boarding” ARRR YARRRRRR!!!

Alucard from Castlevania SOTN is hands down one of the coolest vampires ever in video game history and personally I am glad about it every time when a fan submits an illustration or a cosplay of him. This happened again a couple of days ago with this fresh take on him there by Conzitool from Italy. I love the color tones in this one. Excellent work @Conzitool! ps @ everyone..Castlevania SOTN is still awesome and if you have the time..get this old gem and try it out if you haven’t yet!

Badass Vi Portrait is Badass! This is Vi, the Piltover Champion and one of the many League of Legends characters, illustrated by Kureiyah from France who created a lot of superb LoL illustrations lately. While the Alucard illustration above played a lot with the dark /grey color variations to illustrate the character of Alucard, this one makes a perfect use of the stronger and brighter colors which are fitting for Vi so well. Kureiya wrote “Art is my Life” on her dA profile and if you take a look at her portfolio there, you know that this statement is meant damn seriously!

And here we have the last one of our weekly six featured fan arts, this is Nami the Tidecaller, another League of Legends character and I think one of the most interesting ones with her being based on Greek Mythologie. She was drawn here in her “Koi” Skin by SgtSaturn from Sweden. Liked this style a lot which seems to be pretty unusual among the many League of Legends fan arts I’ve seen so far. Fun Fact: Neither SgtSaturn nor myself never played LoL ;-P Happy Weekend everyone!
