Mileena is a character from the Mortal Kombat fighting games and made her debut in Mortal Kombat II (1993) where she was introduced together with Kitana as an assassin working for Shao Kahn and raised as his daughter by him together with Kitana while she is a clone of her. She returned in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (1995) and also Mortal Kombat Gold (1999) where she was again a rival of Kitana. Mileena got a big visual redesign in Mortal Kombat: Deception (2004) and got a feature in the Playboy Magazine as the first video game babe ever which gave her probably a huge popularity boost. Like all Mortal Kombat II characters, she was also featured in Mortal Kombat. Shaolin Monks (2005) where she is a boss character together with Kitana and Jade. Her next playable appearance was in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon (2006) Mileena got again big visual redesigns in Mortal Kombat 9 (2011) which made her one of the most popular Mortal Kombat characters today it seems. Mileena returned again in Mortal Kombat X (2015) but she is killed in its Story Mode. However, Mileena returned as part of the second Kombat Pass for Mortal Kombat XI in 2020..without playing a part in the story mode this time. The only MK characters which get similar big attention from fans through art are probably Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Kitana.
