Petey Piranha is a recurring boss in the Super Mario series now but made its debut in Super Mario Sunshine on the Gamecube in 2002.
The battle against Petey the first time is relative easy. Mario has to shoot water into the big mouth of the Piranha Plant and fill its stomach with water. Petey will stumble and fall, Mario can use that moment to groundstomp it. After three groundstomps Petey Piranha is defeated! After Super Mario Sunshine, this boss returned in a lot of the later Mario games including New Super Mario Bros. and almost all later Mario Sports games.
