Kintaro from Mortal Kombat in the GA-HQ Video Game Character DB
Kintaro is a recurring boss character from the Mortal Kombat fighting game series and was introduced as the boss before Shao Kahn and as a replacement for Prince Goro in Mortal Kombat II (1993). He returned in playable form in Mortal Kombat Trilogy (1996) and again as an unplayable boss in Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks (2005) a game that retold the story of Mortal Kombat II. Kintaro was returning as a playable character in Mortal Kombat.Armageddon (2006). His last appearance was in Mortal Kombat 9 (2011) where he was again unplayable and had to be fought together with Prince Goro sometimes in the Story Mode. In Mortal Kombat XI (2019), Shang Tsung can use the soul of Kintaro for his second Fatality, basically, the same one he had as a third, “super-secret” fatality back in Mortal Kombat II. Kintaro is a Shokan like Prince Goro but from a different tribe that has more feline and Tiger similar looks. He was one of the most difficult fighting game bosses in the mid-nineties. It is unclear if Kintaro will return in a future Mortal Kombat game, he is most likely not returning in Mortal Kombat X. |
