The Game-Art-HQ Art Challenges are both a Challenge and a Community Project that is organized through our Group on DeviantART.

GA-HQ Community Members can either claim a game or a game character of their choice if it is related to the Art Challenge Theme or get a selection of three games or characters picked for them

Ursula is one of the protagonists in Breath of Fire IV and a soldier of the Fou Empire there. She is skilled with guns and has fox-like features.  Ursula is the only Breath of Fire character that was drawn for our RPG Art Challenge.

She was drawn by Shinragod who wrote the following:

“So I selected to draw a character from Breath of Fire IV. The fiery military fox girl; Ursula.
Now taken from other video games; Ursula to me in this day and age looks like across between Chun Li (Street Fighter) and Carmelita Fox (Sly Cooper.)
Combine those two (or have them accidently splice in the same device we got Brundlefly from) and you get Ursula.

Originally I wanted to draw another character from the series here; but I stuck strictly with Ursula and it’s been awhile since I played this game. I think she has feelings for Cray in this game, but she isn’t introduced until later in the game as a playable character.
And while her part in the party isn’t totally vital to the story, her militaristic attitude and professional appearance just made me want to draw her.

Plus I dig those ears. They look cool. “
