Donovan Baine is one of the playable characters in the Darkstalkers fighting games by Capcom. He debuted as one of the two new characters in the second game, Nightwarriors: Darkstalkers Revenge (1995) and returned in the sequel, all ports and re-releases and also a couple of the crossover games like SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters Clash and its sequels between 1999 and 2006. Donovan is also one of the available characters in Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo (1996). Donovan is a Dhampir, his blood is cursed by a vampire and he can not completely control himself. During his youth he killed everyone in the village where he lived with his mother. His mother was one of his victims as well. After this incident he tried to devote himself to Buddhism but he can’t find the peace he searched. During his travels he met the girl Anita that can be seen running after him and watching the battles in the Darkstalkers games. He is hunting the Darkstalkers and uses a sword known as Dhylec. Donovan tries to clean the world and himself from the cursed blood. In Darkstalkers: Vampire Chronicles on the Playstation 2, a different version of him is unlockable which is called Dee and shows his evil, cursed blood side. |
