Ganryu from Tekken in the GA-HQ Video Game Character DB
Ganryu is one of the playable characters in the Tekken fighting games by Namco. He is a Sumo Wrestler who debuted in the first Tekken (1994) as one of the mid-bosses that became playable after beating them. He shared many moves with other characters like Jack and Kuma but was developed into a completely unique character with the time. Ganryu returned in Tekken 2 (1995) as a Mid-Boss again, was not seen in Tekken 3 (1997) and Tekken 4 (2001) but returned as an unlockable character in Tekken 5 (2004) and an initially playable character in Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection (2005), Tekken 6 (2007), its update Tekken 6 BR (2007). He was the 2nd last returning Tekken Character as DLC in Tekken 7 where he was a part of the third season pass (2019). Like many other characters, Ganryu got a major visual overhaul. Ganryu was also playable in Tekken Tag Tournament 1-2 (1999/2011) and played a minor role in the movie Tekken: Blood Vengeance (2011). |
